Week 15 - Exit Blog

Image
As the end of the school year approaches, I want to reflect on my experience in digital marketing. With the help of Dr. Kelsey and the amazing class setup, I am certified in SEO, Google Analytics, Hootsuite as well as a few others. I believe that these certifications really give students an edge in pursuing a related career and am forever thankful for the opportunities given to me from Benedictine University's College of Business. Among the digital marketing classes I have taken, infographics was without a doubt my favorite as it allowed business students to learn in a more creative environment.  My final project focused on creating an infographic for a smaller, local company in which I have been communicating with the founder. Below you will see my final draft where I received great feedback. I was unable to use real photos from the company (given the time constraint), but the message/appearance still came out great. I decided to use simplicity and spacing in this infographi...

Week 14 - Feedback

Image
I have speaking with my client Superior Truck Dock Service Inc. to complete a professional infographic. This small company primarily does service work for a variety of different businesses in the Greater Chicagoland Area. Competition in this industry is very limited due to the market type (niche). After speaking with the owner, he said that the biggest struggle for his business is graphics/advertising.  I created the infographic below to cover both of the weak spots for Superior. It is extremely simplified because many businesses don't know who to call when they have these issues. Therefore, covering the key services that Superior provides is vital during exposure. I am currently waiting to hear back from the owner for feedback. Although, I was told by family that using Superiors photos would be better if possible and I agree with that. Besides the point, feedback is a great outlet to use as it can help creators get an alternative perspective and on the right track for success....

Week 13 - Multilingual Texts

Image
Photoshop applications are extremely useful throughout the design of your infographic. Also, the target audience of your graphic might speak a number of languages making multilingual texts an important feature to discover. Google Translate is always a great option, but as we know it's not always perfect. Photoshop is constructed for image editing where different aspects of the image can be differentiated by layers. In this example the text boxes are a layer of the edited image. Creating multilingual texts are often important when large companies are implementing globalization strategies. This is because they have to assimilate to the new country culture while providing perfect accuracy of the text. I recommend trying it out if you are able to when creating your next infographic!

Week 12 - Artificial Intelligence Impact

Image
My sister recently graduated from university where the president's ceremonial speech focused on the outlook of artificial intelligence. While AI seems to be very helpful in in terms of costs, efficiency and error rate (etc.), there are other factors that will forever hold back its potential in my opinion. For example, Tesla's AI technology of implementing smart "autopilot" into their electric vehicles was and still is phenomenal progress. The doubts remain to be whether introducing AI is truly worth it. In Teslas case, many people are weary of the idea that nobody is driving the car. In the business world, AI has the ability to takeover certain roles within an organizations structure.  Artificial intelligence contributes to unemployment rates which is where I think many people are scared. Some are at risk of losing their career to AI after decades in the industry. The bottom line is that AI technology can replicate human activities without distractions or emotions. T...

Week 11 - Quantum Computing

Image
Researching quantum computing was a new discovery for me, and learning more about startups in the industry such as Super Tech gave me a better scope of how it can be applied. AI technology has already been introduced and used in many newer corporations primarily due to the efficiency/upside. Quantum computing can be a largely successful avenue for businesses to introduce as many complicated problems can be solved more swiftly.  With Super Tech being one of very few in the industry, it will allow them to adapt their marketing campaign as variables change. CEO, Pranav Gohkale,  presumes that quantum computing will start to be a vocational subject in business schools across the nation. Adaptation in this campaign is something that I believe will be the highest concern as quantum computing can be helpful to a number of different niche markets. Super Tech has the business plan in place and now needs to determine the steps/goals in between to get to that point. Being in such a...
